Hello, friends, and welcome to my first post dedicated to wellness, fitness, and health. For the longest time, I’ve wanted to add this subject to be shared on this blog but have never felt worthy to do so since I’m not in the best of shape and some of my health habits aren’t the healthiest ones per se. I have a little thing with sugar…I need to have at least something sweet every day. Don’t get me wrong, I eat super nutritious foods; most of what we eat at home is organic and vastly varied and includes fruits and vegetables. But, to be honest, that’s it. The longest period of time I have worked out in my life is 2 months. I almost got an F in PE class when I used to live in Cuba. I think the instructor didn’t know what to do and let me pass the class because no one had ever failed that class before lol
You see now why I didn’t feel confident enough to give you health and fitness advice? But, I’m done with that and I’m determined to get in the best shape of my life. I’ll take you with me on that journey and tell you what’s working and what’s not. I’m doing this because I also want you to be the healthiest you can be for your family and yourself. I also know that if I post this here, somehow all of you will keep me in check and I will feel horrible if I give up. So, here we go! Join me on this new adventure and let’s live a healthier lifestyle together. Summer, here we come!!
Today I’m going to start with the most basic thing ever and that is to drink water. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated, and I’m one of them. I joke all the time that, in my past life, I used to be a camel; but it’s no joke. Not drinking enough water can cause so many health problems. Creating small, healthy habits like this one can add up over time.
We should drink around 1-2 liters of water a day, and that’s approximately six to eight glasses. But, don’t drink just any water; avoid acidic pH waters at all cost and drink alkaline water. Alkaline water is different from tap water because it’s less acidic with a pH over 7, which means it has a lower concentration of hydrogen ions. We mostly eat acidic foods, so why add more to the pile? A brand of water that I trust and recommend is TEN spring water. Not only it is the best bottled water I have tasted, it doesn’t have that chlorine or metallic taste that some others have. But, most importantly, this water has the highest pH; more than any other bottled water. This BPA-free bottle holds a pH of 10 for at least two years and helps to neutralize the acid in the body. Naturally alkaline water occurs when water passes over rocks, like in springs. TEN comes directly from the earth’s natural springs and not from a tap, as opposed to many bottled waters. You can get it at your local supermarkets, like Publix, or order it from Amazon Prime.
I hope this information was helpful and I’m so excited we started this journey together today to better heath.
